Ed Trauschke to Retire from WNCN in December

Veteran news director Ed Trauschke is retiring from Raleigh, N.C. CBS affiliate WNCN.

He joined the station in 2017. His last day at WNCN will be Friday, December 20, 2024.

“For the last seven years Ed has overseen the growth and development of our newsroom. He’s helped guide CBS 17 News to new heights, instilling a culture of journalistic excellence and integrity,” ” said vice president and general manager John Lewis. “The talented journalists at CBS 17 have learned from his experience and grown from his guidance but they aren’t the only ones who’ve benefited from his leadership and judgment. The viewers watching CBS 17 in the Raleigh/Durham/Fayetteville market have seen Ed’s vision of local news that matters. The station is thankful to Ed for all he’s done.”

After graduating from the University of Florida, Trauschke started his career working in radio. He was a reporter in Gainesville and Orlando. He was managing editor at WRAL in Raleigh before returning in 1998 to his native Florida as assistant news director at WESH in Orlando. Four years later he was named news director at the station. He would go on to lead newsrooms in Little Rock (KLRT) and Tulsa (KOTV) before returning to Raleigh as News Director of WNCN.
