The Muppets are promoting Facebook’s Portal, Portal Mini and Portal TV video calling devices again, but this time, they’re bringing iconic song “Rainbow Connection” into it.
A new TV spot, Songs About You Know, will debut during the American Music Awards on ABC Sunday night.
In the spot, although Kermit the Frog cannot be with the rest of the Muppets during the holiday, they use Portal to reunite and celebrate, breaking into an impromptu rendition of “Rainbow Connection.”
The campaign kicked off in September, and the initial spot featured some of the scattered Muppets reuniting via Portal devices, testing its smart camera and modeling its augmented reality masks.
The original Portal debuted in October 2018.
The new Portal has a 10-inch HD display, while the Portal Mini comes in at eight inches, and both devices support video calls, photos and videos in portrait or landscape orientations. Portal TV brings video calling to the television screen, with users still having the freedom to move around during those calls and still be seen and heard.
