Former President Donald Trump was the target of a second assassination attempt on Sunday. The incident took place at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, FL. Trump previously survived a shooting in Butler County, PA in July.

The timeline of Sunday’s events started at 1:30 p.m. ET when authorities received reports of gunshots being fired at the course while Trump was golfing. U.S. Secret Service agents saw evidence of a shooter wielding an AK-47-style rifle in the shrubbery surrounding the course and fired at the suspect.

The suspect fled in an SUV and was apprehended not long after. He has since been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh; no motive has been disclosed for his actions.

Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung released a statement in the immediate wake of the incident saying: “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”
