The CBS Evening News has gone through numerous reinventions over the years, hoping each version will lift the newscast out of its third-place ranking in total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo.
The network had 14 years of stability with Dan Rather at the helm, but since his departure in 2005, it has seen a revolving door of anchors, including Bob Schieffer, Katie Couric, Scott Pelley, Jeff Glor, and O’Donnell.

This new ensemble team of journalists will seek to generate attention for the reimagined news program. Time will tell if this version resonates with viewers and enable CBS News to catch up with NBC News and ABC News’ evening broadcasts.
