Creative Letterpress Printer / Full Time / Paid
Brunswick East VIC AU
https://hungryworkshop.com.au/
We are searching for another likeminded letterpress printer to join our team. Is it you? Are you obsessed with paper? Do you love creating with your hands? Do you find joy in weighing out the perfect amount of Pantone Red 032? Do you love tinkering and figuring out how machines work?
Role Details
We get our hands dirty. We coax sixty year old printing presses to create exquisite prints. We mix inks by hand. We check every single sheet of paper that goes out our door. We create tangible objects, from origami packaging and colourful business cards to celebration invitations and certificates of authenticity. We problem solve and like to have a laugh along the way.
As a letterpress printer at the Hungry Workshop you will be responsible for crafting innovative, exceptional and efficient client and studio projects on our vintage printing presses.
The small studio environment means the role will be very hands on and requires a flexible ‘roll up your sleeves’ attitude to tasks.
Letterpress experience isn’t essential, as we’re well aware that letterpress printing is a skill that’s tricky to learn – unless you’re game enough to forklift a 1.5 tonne press into your parents’ basement and teach yourself!
Role and salary will be based on experience.
Skill/Attributes Required
– Experience with letterpress / specialty print / printmaking (preferred but not required, letterpress training will be provided)
– Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (for plate-making) and Mac OS X
– Fluent user of project management software e.g. WorkflowMax or similar
– Design or Communications qualification (not essential, but role could potentially include Graphic Design)
– Experience with paper-craft / packaging (not essential, but role could potentially include Packaging Design)
