When LinkedIn laid off roughly 960 employees last month due to the effects of Covid-19, CEO Ryan Roslansky said in an email to employees that the professional network would take several steps to help those who were displaced find other roles, either at LinkedIn or elsewhere.
One step in that direction was revealed this week, when LinkedIn added a Recent Alumni directory to its page on the professional network, enabling those who recently lost their jobs to opt in and be included in the directory.
The directory will provide information on hundreds of people who were laid off from LinkedIn’s global sales and talent acquisition teams, with experience across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, North America and South America.
It can be accessed via mobile or desktop, and people can filter results based on connections, job title, job type and location, after which they can message candidates directly regarding open opportunities.
Vice president of talent solutions Mark Lobosco said in a blog post, “Our talent has always been our top operating priority, and we invest in growing the skills and experience of our team at LinkedIn. We wouldn’t be who we are today without the passion and commitment our employees bring to their work each and every day. As we recently had to make a very difficult decision to reduce the size of our workforce across our global sales and talent acquisition organizations as a result of strategic business changes, some of our talent is now open to new opportunities.”
