Shillington students from around the world share the work of creatives who inspire them in the #ILoveTheseGuys series. In this post, New York graduate Sarah Kennedy highlights projects from the Brooklyn based Finnish designer Lotta Nieminen.
Lotta’s work is stunning. Her illustrations are colourful and detailed, while her graphic design is clean and simple. I particularly love her graphic design work because she uses a lot of empty space on the page paired with small typefaces. She often uses soft colours along with a more bold colour for impact. The way her work is mocked-up is minimal. A lot of plain backgrounds are used and her work is propped up or angled to create shadows. Whenever I see her work I just want to reach into my computer and feel the stationary.
