Role Details
Are you looking for a new career creatively visualising data and designing beautiful and effective presentations? At McCann Health Medical Communications (MHMC), we’re offering a 6-month paid internship opportunity as an Associate Presentation Designer. This role can be office based from Macclesfield/Manchester or work remotely from home (within the UK).
The Presentations Team at MHMC is part of an in-house creative studio. We work alongside our agencies, delivering for some of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical brands. Our mission is to help them turn their complex, scientific data into compelling and engaging presentation materials.
In this role, you will work closely with our Workflow Manager, who will allocate you briefs to complete by the deadline, and liaise with Medical Editors and Writers to discuss the content and advise on the best approach to please the client. You will need to be proactive, adaptable and quick thinking to ensure you deliver work on time and on brief. We work across a range of jobs, and you’ll work collaboratively and efficiently on these.
Skill/Attributes Required
We’re looking for:
• A visual thinker. Presented with a range of slides, layout and data, it will be your task to make these look visually intriguing and easy to understand whilst staying true to their scientific nature and appealing to stakeholders. Your daily work will range from accurately redrawing data charts to visually enhancing a set of slides.
• A clear communicator. Communication is vital, so you’ll need to be capable of emailing and keeping in touch with our team and agencies via Teams.
• Beginner/basic knowledge of PowerPoint, with more intermediate training in the software available on the job.
• Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator – other CC programmes are advantageous, although not essential.
Most importantly, you must be curious to learn and develop, enthusiastic about suggesting design advice when the opportunity arises, and passionate about exceeding expectations, regardless of the brief.
Knowledge of design and demonstrable ability of design principles are fundamental to success, and we ask that you demonstrate this in the form of a portfolio. Although we work with complex medical information and scientifically trained teams, we’re not scientifically trained ourselves – so no medical/scientific knowledge is necessary for this role.
Our team take pride in many years of experience, so you can rely on us for ongoing training and advice as you get to grips with the role and the industry. We’ll teach you how to use a range of systems and get you up to speed on our processes in order to perform your role efficiently.
We’re also proud to have a clear career pathway to help your progression and ongoing development. The Presentations team is a bunch of great people with varied backgrounds, and the right application can provide plenty of opportunities for personal growth in a rewarding career.
