Sunday’s airing of the 50th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live brought in big ratings for NBC, with 14.8 million total viewers tuning in.

This was the network’s most-watched primetime entertainment telecast since the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.

SNL50: The Anniversary also delivered solid numbers for NBC streaming service Peacock, which simulcasted the telecast. It was the most-watched entertainment simulcast on Peacock, behind only three telecasts of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The three-plus-hour special, which aired live from the show’s fabled home of Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, followed the late-night program’s standard format, albeit stretched out to accommodate the extended timeslot on Sunday.

Current and former cast members, former hosts, and musical guests all crammed into the tiny studio to celebrate the show’s milestone. Beloved segments and characters popped up throughout the broadcast, including Black Jeopardy, Kate McKinnon’s Miss Rafferty (the UFO lady), Rachel Dratch’s Debbie Downer, and Mike Myers’ Linda Richman.

NBC is also touting big numbers from all the ancillary programming that surrounded the special, including SNL50: The Red Carpet. The program aired from 7-8 p.m. ET, was hosted by Willie Geist and Leslie Jones, and drew 6.5 million viewers across NBC, Peacock, and E!

If you missed the festivities, all these programs can be rewatched on Peacock.
