Pappy the BiPedal Poodle Will Walk You Into the Weekend

NBC Chicago recently had a special guest come on set to make an attempt at a world record.

Pappy the Poodle, who can be bipedal, paid a visit to the NBC owned station, which doesn’t sound all that newsworthy, except lately we’ll take any opportunity to ignore the absolute weirdness happening outside the walls of the TVSpy compound and focus on other kinds of weirdness. Since Twiggy the water skiing squirrel wasn’t available, we went with a walking poodle.

Pappy went viral last year for walking across Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago on his hind legs. I did it once, too, but no one wrote about it.

According to Pappy’s trainer Alex Rothacker, it took about a year to train Pappy to walk on his hind legs before “he became really good,” so he is one up on me.

Rothacker and the poodle attempted to break the Guinness World Record, with Pappy weaving through eight poles before walking back to his trainer. The station said the record seemed all but sewn up by 6:15 a.m. after Pappy weaved “in and out back and forth without falling” which isn’t something a human would want to brag about since it could mean you’re about to be arrested for DUI, but for a dog…well it is kinda special.

“We will submit this to the Guinness Book of World Records,” anchor Matt Rodrigues said.
