The 31st edition of the Manchester’s PechaKucha Night is coming—and it’s online! And, better still, it’s free!
For their 31st PechaKucha, PK Manchester are focussing on the theme of migration.
At a time when movements are becoming ever more restricted, be it by pandemic or policy, they want to explore the stories of those whose lives have been shaped by migration.
Also, in solidarity with the black community and the Black Lives Matter movement, PK Manchester want to come together to support and share how they can be better allies in the continuing fight against racism.
In association with People’s History Museum, they’re bringing together a host of incredible speakers, including campaigners, designers, illustrators, researchers and coders to talk around the theme of migration using the 20×20 format: they have 20 images, 20 seconds per image, no stopping.
Aside from the talks they will also be showcasing artwork from our special month-long activity to create a ‘Flag for Manchester’ led by Chebo Besa. They’ll also be running, for the first time ever, a Q&A after the talks have finished.
They have made this event FREE to make it as open and accessible as possible during these difficult times. However, if you can spare any change, they’re encouraging you to donate to any good causes that support the Black Lives Matter movement or those helping people worst affected by Coronavirus.
The event will be streamed live on Zoom in a webinar format. This means the audience will not be on camera but can participate in the chat and through submitting questions. We will be making a recording to later be uploaded to YouTube and Facebook.
Thursday 9 July 2020, 7:00—9:00pm. Online (via Zoom).
Tickets released 8am on 11 June 2020—they go quickly so don’t forget!
