Citations and making subscribers’ lives easier
The detailed white paper is studded with data inserts that can be exported, and subscribers can edit and annotate its contents.
Like all gen AI, the Policy Intelligence Assistant is susceptible to hallucinations, although the publisher and Capitol AI have experimented with the tool for months to reduce their incidence.
Whitepapers cite the Politico reporting that it used to compile the document, making it simple for readers to double-check the source material for any given claim. Still, the publisher recommends as a best practice that subscribers read through the report before using it.
The rollout of the tool comes at a particularly auspicious, if completely coincidental time for Politico. In February, as part of President Trump’s broader promise to cut government waste, the White House announced plans to cancel $8 million of Politico Pro subscriptions.
While the debut of Policy Intelligence Assistant has nothing to do with the proposed cancellations—Politico and Capitol AI began working together last fall—the two share overlapping mandates, according to Loeffler.
“It’s a happy coincidence,” Loeffler said. “We are always trying to make our subscribers’ lives easier and more efficient. This tool helps us do both.”
