With the pandemic making physical escape rooms a risky proposition for the time being, Amazon Prime Video is taking the experience into the virtual realm for its forthcoming comedy series Truth Seekers.

The streaming service is holding free 45-minute virtual escape room sessions between now and Nov. 18, in which a host will lead a group of participants through the challenge via video chat while a guide outfitted with a headlamp and camera wanders the actual room at the direction of the players. The activation was created in collaboration with escape room chain The Escape Game.

Set in the world of the show, which centers on a team of paranormal investigators uncovering an apocalyptic conspiracy, the premise tasks players with helping the characters restore 6G cell service in a museum by locating the artifact causing the disruption. The museum setting is also scattered with Easter eggs from the plot of the show.

The host interacts with the participants through the duration of the puzzle-solving, giving hints if necessary. Players explore the room by instructing the guide where to walk and look. The Escape Game has been hosting virtual sessions like these outside of the campaign for $30 per player.

With its characteristic large-scale activations off the table because of the coronavirus, Prime Video has been increasingly turning to virtual interactive experiences like these to promote new titles. It previously created an augmented reality laser tag game last month to promote the second season of its dark superhero series The Boys, and, last week, the company filled a virtual mansion with actors and DJs to celebrate four upcoming thrillers from horror production shop Blumhouse.

Truth Seekers, created by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, premieres on the platform Oct. 30.
