In what a local paper called an anchor shake up, but appeared to be more of an anchor promotion, KSAT reporter John Paul Barajas has been named weekend evening anchor.

He fills the seat previously held by anchor Courtney Friedman, who was promoted to weekday anchor in early April.

“I’m honored to be stepping into the role of Weekend Evening Anchor,” Barajas posted to social media. “It’s a position that has been held by so many amazing journalists and KSAT greats. I’m excited about this next chapter and added responsibility which truly is a privilege. See you tomorrow at 5 and 10!”

Barajas has worked as a reporter for the San Antonio ABC affiliate for the past four years.
