Sinclair senior vice president of programming Dave Howitt will retire on March 31.
Howitt has worked for more 30 of his 48 years in television at Sinclair. He was responsible for the acquisition of syndicated programming and program scheduling, overseeing syndicated programming efforts for 43 markets and 90 stations.
“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible people at Sinclair, stations, program distribution companies, and networks,” said Howitt. “Throughout my career, I’ve had a front-row seat to the evolution of television, particularly in broadcast syndication and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities this industry has provided.”
Before joining Sinclair, Howitt held various promotion and programming management roles at WUAB in Cleveland and WTTV in Indianapolis. Throughout his career, he worked at broadcasting companies like United Artists, Gaylord, Cannell, and River City, before joining Sinclair in 1994.
“We salute Dave and his contributions to making Sinclair one of the nation’s largest local media companies,” said Arthur Hasson, acting COO of programming. “Dave’s expertise extends across all aspects of our industry, and he will be greatly missed.”
Sinclair has named Linda Greenwald and Matthew Diehlmann Directors of Programming.
