Spotify is testing a new feature called Storyline that gives you behind-the-scenes information from artists about their songs. The information is presented like an Instagram Story, with a carousel of cards featuring a combination of text and images that you can tap through. Android Police notes that the feature is only available on a select number of songs right now, including Sucker by the Jonas Brothers, and a handful of songs by Billie Eilish.

Storyline offers similar functionality to Spotify’s existing Behind the Lyrics cards, and even appears directly beneath them in compatible songs. However, while Behind the Lyrics is provided via a partnership with third-party company Genius, Storylines come directly from the artists themselves. TechCrunch notes that this could mean there’s less opportunity for incorrect information to make it into the service, and speculates that sourcing content directly from artists could be cheaper than paying a third-party company.

The new feature is currently in testing on iOS and Android, and users have been able to access it countries including the US and the Netherlands. However, it’s not available to every Spotify user just yet, and nor is it available for every artist — Spotify has worked directly with the artists themselves to generate the current crop of Storylines.

In a statement, a spokesperson from the company said, “We are always testing new ways to create better experiences for more users,” but did not confirm when the feature would be released more broadly.
