Roughly 3.6 million Hispanics in the U.S. will turn 18 during this election season and become eligible to vote, and Telemundo is marking National Voter Registration Day Tuesday with a national, multiplatform campaign aimed at giving them all the necessary information and motivation to do so.

Telemundo said 2020 marks the first general election in the U.S. where Latinos will be the largest ethnic group eligible to vote, accounting for a projected 13% of the electorate, or approximately 32 million Hispanic voters.

The Hispanic-focused media company added that its National Voter Registration Day efforts are the culmination of its ongoing, nonpartisan Decisión 2020 campaign, under the banner of its El Poder En Ti (The Power in You) corporate social responsibility initiative.

Telemundo and the Hispanic Federation have been running a sequence of bilingual phone banks to encourage Latinos to register to vote, and a national phone bank will run Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET to ensure that callers have all the information they need both to register and to navigate the rules and restrictions associated with voting during a pandemic.

The company said over 11,000 calls have been received by these phone banks nationwide since July.

Telemundo also rolled out Planifica Tu Voto, a Spanish-language version of sister company NBC News’ Plan Your Vote tool, offering a state-by-state guide of the voting process, including the most up-to-date information as procedures and regulations are announced in real-time.

On Tuesday, there will be daylong integrations and speaker panels across news and entertainment shows including Un Nuevo Día Morning Show, Noticias Mediodía, En Casa Con Telemundo and Edición Noticias Telemundo.

A webinar moderated by Noticias Telemundo correspondent Nicole Suarez and featuring representatives from the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute, the Hispanic Federation, the NALEO Educational Fund and Voto Latino will be livestreamed on the Facebook and YouTube accounts of Noticias Telemundo Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.

Telemundo stars including Kate del Castillo of La Reina Del Sur will participate in public service announcements to be shared on-air and social and digital platforms, and they will also share voter registration calls to action across social media, with a focus on reaching younger voters.

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises senior vice president of corporate and external affairs Christina Kolbjornsen said in a statement, “Latinos have enormous power to shape the outcome of the 2020 elections. At Telemundo, we are dedicating our platforms and resources to ensure that our community is empowered to vote and informed on how to do so safely during the pandemic. Together with our partners, we hope to inspire millions of Latinos to recognize and honor the importance of their vote on National Voter Registration Day and beyond.”
