Top of the Ticker: CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota revealed on Friday that her husband Tim Lewis passed away in July following a two year battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was 58 years old. “I cannot imagine any human being soldiering through a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility and bravery than Tim,” Camerota wrote in an emotional Instagram post. “This month would have been our 23rd wedding anniversary. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a deep, committed, loving partnership for the time we had.” The couple share three children and Camerota has since established a foundation in her husband’s memory.

From Russia with Ratings: MSNBC Films saw James Bond-like ratings for its new documentary From Russia With Lev, which premiered on Friday night. Executive produced by star anchor Rachel Maddow, the film averaged 2.1 million viewers in the 9-11 p.m. ET timeslot. It was the network’s most-watched documentary in four years and likely the first of many to come from Maddow’s Surprise Inside production lablel. Maddow screened the film at the recent MSNBC Live: Democracy 2024 event in Brooklyn and also took the movie on the road for a cross-country tour.

New Hire: Politico scribe Sarah Ferris joins CNN as a Capitol Hill reporter. Ferris starts her new role today, keeping her ear to the ground for breaking news from the Capitol Rotunda. Her Politico scoops include the behind the scenes battle between top Democrats and President Joe Biden following his widely-criticized performance in CNN’s June 27 presidential debate and internal GOP fissures surrounding former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.

Poll Position: A new NBC News poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris holding a five point lead—49% to 44%—over former President Donald Trump among registered voters. Harris polled particularly well when voters were asked which candidate most represented change. On the other hand, Trump still held a slight edge when the questions touched on the economy and inflation. The New York Times also released a new poll today that spotlights the former president’s competitive performance in Sun Belt states like Arizona and North Carolina, as well as Harris’ own improvement over her predecessor at the top of the Democratic ticket, President Joe Biden.

New Week: Bloomberg Media’s Wall Street Week is getting a makeover as part of the show’s relaunch. Hosted by David Westin, the series—which airs Fridays at 6 p.m. ET—will evolve from an interview-based program into more of a newsmagazine, featuring long and short-form news stories from across the globe featuring the voices of leaders in finance, business and technology. Starting Sept. 22, Wall Street Week will also be available to watch on Sundays at 2 p.m. on 195 PBS stations that feature WORLD digital channels. “Our goal is to provide our audience not just with what they need to know, but what they need to think about,” Westin said in a statement.
