Former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign worked with X to prevent information about Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) from being posted on the social media platform—a move that resulted in Ken Klippenstein, the journalist who revealed the information, being kicked off the site, according to reports. The dossier was made public by Klippenstein, who included a copy of the document in his Substack article discussing its contents. Subsequently, X suspended Klippenstein’s account and blocked links to the material. (Quartz)

On Friday, in a lengthy article on how X owner Elon Musk is “going all in” for Trump and wielding his influence to drum up support for the Republican nominee, The New York Times cited two sources who claimed that “the campaign connected with X to prevent the circulation of links to the material on the platform.” (Mediaite)

A person familiar with the matter told CNN Friday that the Trump campaign had a conversation with X officials about the hacked materials before Klippenstein was banned and links to his newsletter were blocked. The person said the campaign did not push X officials to remove links to the materials and that X had made the decision. A spokesperson for X did not respond to a CNN request for comment. (CNN)
