Kyle Raleigh, the son of WCPO meteorologist Steve Raleigh, pleaded guilty to assaulting a couple outside the Montgomery Inn Boathouse last summer.

As part of his plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a felonious assault charge, the most serious count. He now faces two misdemeanor assault counts.

The dustup happened over the summer when Raleigh’s family got into it with the family of Troy Morrow, an employee of a Cincinnati area restaurant called the Boathouse.

The indictment said Kyle Raleigh “used deadly force” and “knowingly caused serious physical harm” to the Morrow’s.

WCPO said “the police report of the incident was heavily redacted, with no specifics about the nature of the injuries, but family of the victims say Doug Morrow was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion, and Lois Morrow was hospitalized with a concussion, fractured skull, brain bleed, a cut that required staples in the back of her head and a lens detached from her eye.”

Doug Morrow was 79 at the time of the incident and his wife Lois was 76.

The Cincinnati Enquirer laid out the details:

According to a Cincinnati police crash report, a relative of Steve Raleigh was driving a Cadillac Escalade in the Boathouse parking lot when he hit the Morrows’ Ford F-150 after failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

A “large fight” then broke out, according to 911 calls.

The Morrows have said Kyle Raleigh got angry with them after Troy Morrow commented on the Escalade’s speed. The family said Steve Raleigh came out of the restaurant and told Morrow’s father, Doug, not to call the police about the crash – which he did anyway.

The family said Kyle Raleigh punched Troy Morrow in the head and slammed him on the ground. Then, Kircher said, he attacked Morrow’s parents.

Prosecutors said in court filings that Morrow provoked Kyle Raleigh, who was in “a sudden fit of rage” when he struck Morrow’s parents causing them both to fall to the ground and suffer head injuries.

Raleigh faces a maximum possible sentence on each count of 180 days at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
