Week of Dec. 2 Cable News Ratings: It’s Feast, Not Famine, for News Outlets Post-Thanksgiving

  • During primetime, Fox News was up by +36% in total viewers and +44% in the demo. During total day, the network also saw gains of +42% in the former category and +56% in the latter.
  • MSNBC was down by -48% in both total viewers and the demo in primetime. During total day, the network was down a respective -41% and -47% in those measured categories.
  • CNN’s primetime fortunes fell by -22% in total viewers and -33% in the demo. During total day, CNN was down by -25% in total viewers and -35% in the demo.

PROGRAMMING:

Fox News took 14 of the 15 spots of the most-watched cable news shows of the week, with The Five (4.113 million viewers at 5 p.m. ET). MSNBC’s Deadline: White House with Nicole Wallace (952,000 viewers at 5 p.m. ET) took the final spot.

The Five (431,000 viewers at 5 p.m. ET) was also the top show among A25-54 viewers. Fox News occupied all 15 top spots on the demo chart of most-watched shows.
