The mornings looked bright for CBS Mornings during the week of Jan. 27. CBS News’ flagship morning show was the only newscast to see week-to-week audience gains in total viewers and the prized demo of Adults 25-54.

Some of that morning glow also rubbed off on NBC News’ Today, which can relax a little as viewers warm up to the new duo of Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin. After seeing its lead over ABC News’ Good Morning America shrink to 29,000 total viewers last week, widened the gap to 42,000 viewers.

NOTE: CBS Mornings was retitled on Thursday (01/30/25) to CBS Morn. These retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS’ weekly averages are based on four days (Monday – Wednesday and Friday).

According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 2.662 million total viewers and 459,000 A25-54 viewers for the week. Compared to the previous week, GMA fell by -3% in the former category and -4% in the latter. Looking at its performance alongside the same week in 2024 (the week of Jan. 29), GMA was down -8% in total viewers and -23% in the demo.

Today averaged 2.704 million total viewers and 705,000 demo viewers for a week-to-week decline of -2% in the former category, but a +6% bump in the latter. Year-to-year, Today was down by -2% in total viewers, but up +7% in the demo.

CBS Mornings finished that last week of January with 2.131 million total viewers and 410,000 A25-54 viewers. That translates to a +6% gain in both of those measured categories. Year-to-year, though, CBS Mornings was down -6% in total viewers and -17% in the demo.
