Kevin Holden has been named sports director for Raleigh CBS affiliate WNCN.
“Having Kevin join CBS 17 News as our sports director is a great addition for the station and community. He’s a world-class storyteller, who knows sports on a national and local level,” said news director Ed Trauschke. “Not only has he anchored and reported on the biggest stories from the world of sports, but he’s also done play-by-play for multiple teams over the years.”
Holden, who also speaks Spanish fluently, comes from WDJT in Milwaukee, where he was the sports director. During his time in Wisconsin he also did play-by-play for the Brewers and Green Bay Packers on their Spanish language broadcasts.
He’s also worked in Orlando at WOFL, News 8 in Austin, and at WHNS in Greenville, S.C. He got his start at WDNN in Dalton, Georgia before moving to Tupelo, Mississippi and then Houston.
“I’m excited to come to CBS 17 and be able to cover all the great sport stories in the Triangle,” said Holden. “This area has the best college basketball in the country, along with a thriving football scene. It’s thrilling to be able to cover the NHL on a daily basis with the Carolina Hurricanes.”
