Xiaomi showed off a 5G version of its latest flagship phone, the Mi Mix 3, at a conference in China this week. In the demo, Xiaomi demonstrated how you can surf the web and stream live videos more quickly through the 5G network.
The 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and an X50 5G modem with a maximum download speed of 2Gbps. The regular version runs on the Snapdragon 845, the processor that was found in many Android phones in 2018.
Xiaomi has been working on 5G technology since 2016, and it has a partnership with one of China’s largest carriers, China Mobile, to explore more applications of the nascent tech. The 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 may become available early next year in Europe, and more smartphones that support China Mobile’s 5G network will come later in the year.
