The Criterion Collection is bringing the classic Godzilla movies to Blu-ray with awesome presentation from Yuko Shimizu.
With Hollywood once again proving this year that somehow it doesn’t know how to make a decent Godzilla movie, it’s time to turn back to the original Japanese classics for unadulterated kaiju movie mayhem with the most beloved king of the monsters.
The Criterion Collection has announced its releasing the first collection of all the original Godzilla movies on Blu-ray, coming in a swanky box with awesome presentation from Yuko Shimizu.
The world-class illustrator is behind the wraparound jacket for Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954–1975, contributing also endpapers and illustrations in the hardback book coming with the rather pricey 8-disc box set.
The collection marks Criterion’s 1000th release to date, and includes all 15 movies from the original Godzilla series with brand new cover art for each by illustrators such as Bill Sienkiewicz, Katsuya Terada, Sophie Campbell, Angela Rizza and Afro Samurai‘s Takashi Okazaki.

A box set full of both movie magic and great looking art then, available to pre-order only from the Criterion site.
