WFLA meteorologist Leigh Spann is leaving the Tampa NBC affiliate after 17 years.

She announced her departure last month. Spann joined the station in 2007.

She told viewers she didn’t come to the decision lightly, but her husband got a job in Ohio awhile ago and she said she “just wasn’t ready” to leave then, but now, the time is right to join him there.

“I really feel like I literally grew up here,” she said in her on-air announcement. “I was here in my twenties, during my thirties, now I’m here in my forties.”

Spann is an avid runner who hosts a digital show called Run for Fun. So, to celebrate her time at WFLA, the station is hosting a Run for Fun 5K in her honor on October 20.
